One of the best kept secrets of Comme Des Garcons.
Just a stone throw away from the first ever Comme Des Garcons store in the From-First Building in Aoyama, Tokyo, lies the famous Comme des Garcons Aoyama flagship store, which has been open since 1989 with its iconic undulating glass facade designed by Takao Kawasaki.
Since its opening, the Aoyama flagship has served as a launchpad for countless creative takeovers, exhibitions, and collaborations. Its roster includes designers such as Paul Harnden Shoemakers, Porter, Lewis Leathers, and artists like Gregory McKechnie and Rene Burri, who have created physical store exclusive pieces that are often time limited, extremely low in production, and sometimes even one offs.
Over the years, Rei Kawakubo herself has released Aoyama-exclusive pieces. Most notably, her steerglass leather Aoyama bags designed by Katsuyuki Yoshida of Yoshida & Co, and the "BELIEVE IN A BETTER TOMORROW" graffiti trunks from SS21.
Aoyama exclusive pieces can be identified by a special tag with the first letter "C" cut out in a circle and denoted by the letter "K" on the care label.
From Spring Summer 1998, this beautiful trench coat feature an all-over camo print, manipulatable collars, belted waist, and a concealed button to adjust the flare of the coat.
