Spring Summer 2007 opened with a wink. A model walked out in a T shirt that read “100 percent Yohji,” setting the tone for a show that folded self reference into classic Yamamoto volume.
Navy billowing jackets and wide trousers moved like linen waders, while tailoring played close to the body through tone on tone stitch lines that suggested contour beneath the drape. The mood was cinematic.
The show reportedly used The Godfather theme, and Tim Blanks noted chain mail vests that read like soft armor among the suiting. The collection felt playful and serious at once.
Within this atmosphere came a small run of slogan pieces that turned the designer’s initials into a jab. “YY He Is Useless” and “YY He Is Helpless” appeared on tees early in the lineup, a Yohji move that disarms ego with humor and folds critique into uniform.
This lightweight denim jacket features the durable, daily wear echo of those runway tees. Cut in a relaxed, boxy trucker profile with multiple front pockets and contrast stitching, it carries the season’s most memorable line across the back: YY He Is Useless.
