AW15 Craig Green Cropped Parachute Jacket

Craig Green Autumn Winter 2015 marked one of his earliest fully resolved studies on collective identity through uniform clothing. The collection opened with a strong sense of discipline and structure, built from repeated silhouettes and a controlled palette that moved from black to deep green to cream in deliberate sequence. Rather than relying on spectacle, Green shaped the runway as a procession, allowing the lineup to read as a unified whole with each look contributing to a larger visual system.

Short and long parkas built from parachute nylon introduced volume and movement. Padded tabards and apron pieces sat over the body as protective layers that suggested rank. Wide utilitarian trousers balanced the top heavy proportions across the lineup. Straps and ties appeared as active components instead of decoration. They gathered fabric, and anchored panels, allowing the garment to shapeshift.

Material choices supported this language of reconstruction. Technical nylons and coated fabrics referenced military and workwear, while soft jersey and selective quilting added visual depth to the silhouettes. Modularity played an important role. Detachable hoods, adjustable cords and layered panels allowed garments to be reconfigured, reinforcing the sense that identity could shift within the same uniform. These technical decisions expressed Green’s interest in clothing that feels poetic while remaining highly functional.

Green builds each collection around a complete, self contained idea, drawing on references that span from the fear of deep water to concepts of paradise and devotion. Even with these shifting themes, his core methodology remains the same. Green observes the garments men put on for work, for conflict, for ritual or for joy, then isolates certain parts and pushes them further to craft a design language that's entirely his own. AW15 mattered because it defined Craig Green’s approach with precision and clarity. It showed how repetition can become narrative, how utility can become symbolism.

The entire AW15 collection includes some of the most sought after outerwear Craig Green has produced. This variation of the cropped parachute jacket features a funnel neck that can be rolled down into a shorter height or left extended like a turtleneck. The sleeves and hem carry concealed strings and straps used to fasten the openings or to create controlled scrunching along the arms and hem.
