Junya Watanabe deployed 18 companies and brands in this collaboration-filled season. Spring Summer 2024 sees a bridge between Junya’s form-breaking womenswear and menswear, with looks that share similar parallels, such as elongated sleeves, sharp geometric silhouettes, and asymmetry.
Watanabe aptly described the collection’s theme as “creating objects, not clothes,” giving rise to pieces that were aggressively cut, pieced, and Frankensteined, alongside tubular and geometrically three-dimensional constructions. He also continued his streak of enveloping silhouettes, with oversized jeans, waist-length upside-down jackets, and calf-length coats that resembled skirts dominating the runway.
Amidst the belt-laden collection were these technical cargo trousers. Constructed in nylon, they boast massive pockets, cinchable leg openings, a drawstring waist, and a front wrap that manipulates the classic workwear silhouette.
