Titled PAUSE = PLAY, Takahiro Miyashita’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection reflects a period of introspection and self-discovery. It serves as both a tribute to the influences and motifs that have shaped his career and a bold statement of his creative evolution. The collection embraced sci-fi themes, incorporating elements inspired by cultural references such as the Blue Man Group, the American performance art company formed in 1987.
As he paused, Miyashita observed the oversaturation of bags on the runway at the time, and sought to challenge their necessity. In return, large amounts of pockets were incorporated into the garments seen on this collection.
One of the collection’s most unique pieces was the Fivefinger Chelsea boots, made in collaboration with Suicoke and Vibram. Reflecting Miyashita's innovative vision and the brand's fluidity to innovate. The shoes, seen on numerous looks, blended the structure of a traditional Chelsea boot with the iconic Vibram five toe design.
