SS15 Comme Des Garcons Shirt Asymmetrical Psychedelic Print Shirt

Comme des Garçons Shirt Spring Summer 2015 was a riot of color and construction, a collection that asked what a shirt could be if stripped of its corporate uniformity and rebuilt with play at its core. Rei Kawakubo leaned into graphics, geometry, and color to turn the ordinary shirt into wearable art rather than business attire.

The collection’s standout feature was its collaboration with Brooklyn-based artist Mike Perry, whose kaleidoscopic illustrations spilled across cotton, knit, and nylon. Star shapes replaced shirt pockets, prints stretched into full matching sets, and intarsia knits warped with a kind of childlike exuberance. Even the simplest stripes were twisted into diagonals and broken seams, rejecting straight lines in favor of something more alive.

Silhouettes carried the same sense of experimentation. Shirts ballooned into cape-like hems, shorts cut wide and generous, and tailoring opened into movement rather than precision. It was a study in contrasts, where boldness found balance in Rei’s eye for proportion.

This shirt, featured in Look 14, displays Mike Perry’s iconic psychedelic print on the asymmetric front panels, juxtaposed with a blue-based shirt body.
