SS14 Craig Green Tie Dye Bucket Hat

Craig Green painted the town in mesmerizing psychedelic colors for Spring Summer 2014. Launched under the Fashion East MAN initiative, the collection marked a pivotal moment early in his career. One that firmly placed him at the vanguard of London menswear.

A Central Saint Martins graduate just two years prior, Green had already become known for his sculptural, emotionally charged approach to design. SS14 deepened that vision, exploring the tension between order and chaos through hand-dyed utilitarian garments that felt spiritual, ceremonial, and raw.

Models moved in unison wearing voluminous, layered silhouettes with their faces obscured by headpieces, creating a sense of anonymity. Each look combined artisanal dyeing techniques with industrial materials like raw canvas and wooden scaffolding. Garments were distressed, painted, and dyed by hand.

The swirling tie-dye patterns mimicked motion and instability, layered over his signature structured workwear silhouettes. It was a bold departure from the polished minimalism dominating menswear at the time, and a clear signal that menswear could carry emotion, ambiguity, and depth.

This beautiful bucket hat appeared in Look 2 & 3 of the collection. Made from lightweight cotton and hand-treated with tie-dye techniques, no two pieces were identical.
