SS12 Comme Des Garcons Homme Plus Elongated Stripe Shirt
Founded in 1984, Comme Des Garcons Homme Plus was Rei Kawakubo's gender-opposite creative outlet, created to explore garments for men while challenging the norms of masculinity and traditional menswear tailoring.
This line sought to break societal conventions, inviting men to shed their masculine walls and embrace clothing as a medium of expression—signaling freedom and independence while retaining the omnipresent punk influence deeply ingrained in Rei's design philosophy.
For it's Spring/Summer 2012 collection, Rei Kawakubo reimagines wardrobe staples by dramatically elongating its silhouette, subverting the expectations of structured, formal menswear. Iconic silhouettes such as the double rider jacket were transformed as well, receiving a more formal interpretation with flap pockets and lashed hems.
This shirt features a dramatically elongated front.
