SS08 Number Nine “Birds” Vest
SS08 Number Nine “Birds” Vest
Takahiro Miyashita’s affection for Kurt Cobain has been consistently evident throughout numerous collections, and Spring/Summer 2008’s “Birds” is no exception.
(Vegas’ personal note: This is the best Number Nine collection ever.)
The collection was set in an old convent, accompanied by soft lullaby renditions of Nirvana. A stark contrast to the military-inspired looks. Giving the show a gentle, serene tone.
Another subtle nod to Kurt Cobain can be seen in the near-monochromatic, grunge-inspired layered outfits, where outerwear was meant to be worn one over the other. Boots appeared to have multiple layers when paired with socks, adding to the depth. This minimalistic palette drew focus towards the intricate, complex layers, making each look more alluring.
The entire collection was crafted from a lightweight 90/10 cotton/cashmere blend, making it the most wearable Number Nine collection for people in tropical climates.
This beautiful vest features a birdseye pattern and the aforementioned 90/10 cotton/cashmere blend.
