Takahiro Miyashita’s skill in crafting intricately layered looks shines throughout his collections, and Spring/Summer 2008’s “Birds” is no exception. Coming from an unconventional background, Miyashita openly channels inspirations from his formative years, heavily influenced by grunge, rock, and all things 1980s America.

Set in an old convent, the collection showcased Napoleonic and militaristic silhouettes. Despite the military cuts, the atmosphere was serene, accompanied by a soft lullaby rendition of Nirvana, which lent the show a peaceful, reflective tone.
All articles of clothing in this collection were done in an airy and lightweight 90/10 cotton/cashmere blend, a fabric light enough for layering—even in warm climates.
