Takahiro Miyashita’s Spring/Summer 2007 collection, About A Boy, was a stark contrast to his previous dark-paletted season, Noir—a collection dominated by all-black ensembles with Celtic influences. This time, Miyashita personified two music legends—Kurt Cobain and Johnny Cash—blending their distinctive styles into one cohesive vision. The title About A Boy paid tribute to Johnny Cash’s 1969 country hit, A Boy Named Sue.
The collection fused soft, ornate detailing with a nonchalant, rock-inspired attitude. On the runway, models wore loose-fitting, oversized whites, tans, and browns, reflecting strong American West influences while maintaining the signature grunge aesthetic that Number (N)ine is known for. Signature details included contrasting buttons crafted from different materials, while Nirvana’s sheet music was transcribed into rows of musical notes, serving as a recurring design motif on jacket and coat linings.
This pleated frill shirt perfectly encapsulates the collection’s delicate balance of ruggedness and romanticism. It features button-tab sleeves, concealed buttons, and a frilly pleated front panel.
