Born in Bulgaria in 1989, Kiko Kostadinov moved to London at sixteen with no formal fashion background. He initially pursued IT before graduating from both the BA and MA Fashion programs at Central Saint Martins. During this time, he created commissioned pieces for Stüssy, which later led to two more collaborative capsules.
Backed by the British Fashion Council’s NewGen initiative, he launched his namesake label after graduation in 2016. The brand is defined by meticulously engineered garments with highly functional cuts and technical finishes. Kostadinov’s creative direction draws from figures like Yohji Yamamoto and the Italian Arte Povera movement, rejecting the fundamentals of figurative art and instead placing emphasis on materiality and traditional product design.
His fifteenth collection, titled “Orbit Of Forgotten Desires,” draws material inspiration from four overlooked womenswear designers: Anne-Marie Beretta, Mariuccia Mandelli, Irene Lentz, and the Sorelle Fontana sisters. These references were interwoven with ideas from Kostadinov’s closest collaborators, Laura and Deanna Fanning.
Rather than directly referencing their work, Kostadinov filtered their codes through his own design language, resulting in a suite of garments that blended architectural construction, function, and youth-driven energy.
Titled “Agathon,” these trousers feature a tailored cut with contrast waffle-knit panels in Dahlia purple and functional back zips.
