Listening to jazz in the studio, Jun Takahashi built Autumn Winter 2012’s Psycho Color on an unconventional palette of mustard, bordeaux, and electric blue. Shades that challenges expectations of seasonal dressing. His punk roots continued to underscore the collection’s spirit. Disabling traditional formalism with graphics, deconstruction, and unconventional material experimentation.
As in the womenswear line, Takahashi amplified Psycho Color by dismantling both fabricity and visual perception. Heavy leathers sat alongside shimmering silks and velvets; tailored jackets were cut with puffer sleeves; printed “fur-effect” graphics imitated texture while clashing against knits and suedes. Each element worked to unsettle the casual gaze.
Amid the psychoanalytic motifs, contrasting materials, and bold colours, Takahashi revisited a staple silhouette first introduced in SS06.
The punk-inspired zipper boots shed their iconic studs but adopted the same hybrid material treatment seen across AW12. This reflects one of Takahashi’s enduring habits of returning to past designs and mutating them into new forms. A lookbook-exclusive release, this pair combines a blue corduroy upper with a black leather base, set on a durable sole and finished with a removable front-zip panel.
