For Autumn/Winter 2020, Verdy brought his signature Girls Don’t Cry graphics to the Rebuild by Needles program. This capsule lineup featured matching tracksuits, hoodies, and cardigans embroidered with Needles’ Papillon Butterfly, along with a range of 7 Cut T-shirts.
As the newest kid on the block, Verdy has already garnered stamps of approval from OG streetwear designers—Nigo and Jun Takahashi—the generation who brought Japanese streetwear to the global stage.
Girls Don’t Cry was initially created by the multi-hyphenate as a gift to his wife on their trip to LA in 2017. He gifted her a tee, taking the name from The Cure’s “Boys Don’t Cry,” her favorite song.
It has since left an indelible mark on modern streetwear with its graphic-driven design, powerful message, and eye-catching cursive font. Verdy also leverages Girls Don’t Cry’s influence by collaborating with brands he loves and consumes.
This shirt features seven colorful reconstructed and upcycled panels, adorned with the iconic cursive Girls Don’t Cry text printed on the front.
