The haunting and electrifying Undercover Spring Summer 06 “T” collection was a prime example of coherent storytelling and world-building in fashion. Models clad in garments with sophisticated tailoring and religious-like styling walked a runway dimly lit by candles.
Bridging different mediums of art, Jun Takahashi presented five fictional progressive-rock bands under the fictional ‘Undercover Records’ label, plastering their names all over the garments (Klaus, The SSSSS, Wahnfrieden, Chuuut, Kosmiche).
In homage to Maison Margiela, Jun Takahashi deconstructed and transformed clothing into intricate silhouettes with complex shapes and drapes.
We see a similar treatment for menswear as well. This cut and sew shirt features the five fictional band motifs peppered throughout cotton panels of varying weights.
