FW07 Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme Embroidered Long Sleeve
FW07 Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme Embroidered Long Sleeve
For Yohji Yamamoto's Autumn/Winter 2007 Pour Homme collection, Yohji once again returned to his signature dark and avant-garde approach to menswear, blending sharp, traditional tailoring with deconstructed and lengthy silhouettes. While punctuated by jacquard knitting, trompe l'oeil, and playful graphics by Shotaro Ishinomori.
One may argue that Yohji revisits the same themes each season—Exaggerated lapels, slouchy suits, unconventional layering and of course, his oversexualized graphics. While the collection does not have a centric theme and appears messy, peeling off the reccuring motifs, revealed inventive techniques, such as precise tailoring juxtaposed with contrasting fabrics. Additionally, his outlier red looks symbolizes strength, passion and defiance, as well as adding a visceral contrast against his dark tones.
This long sleeve shirt is embroidered with one of the runway motifs: "punissable sous peine d'amende allant jusqu'à 1000", which loosely translates to "punishable by a fine of up to 1000 euros."
